The Sandals Carlyle is the smallest, least expensive, and most intimate of the Sandals resorts but, it maintains, the one with the biggest heart. In fact, it is run more as a small hotel than as a large resort, and has something of the feel of a bed-and-breakfast, or a traditional Jamaican inn. Its small size makes it possible for guests to enjoy a very warm and personal level of service, including 24-hour room service.
The 52 rooms are all set in a block round the courtyard pool — they are accessed through the quaint lobby and via the elegant staircase, and all have four-poster beds and colourful Caribbean furnishings. All rooms have balconies, and the penthouse suites on the top floor have ocean views and butler service. There are three restaurants, including the Bay Window with a rustic Tuscany ambience, and two bars, one of which is the circular Sunset Bar, in the midst of tropical gardens. The intimate atmosphere and the relaxed hospitality encourage social interaction round the pool, as well as a sense of peace and tranquillity throughout the resort.
