The vast airy reception area of the Cinnamon Bey resort welcomes you to the sprawling array of courtyards and terraces, designed to make the most of the stunning ocean-front setting. The resort is brand new, occupying the site of two previous hotels that were demolished, and the Moorish style of its architecture is inspired by the history of Beruwala, where the first Arab traders settled around the 8th century AD. The Moorish theme extends to the 200 guest rooms, which in contrast to the ancient style are fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and modern comforts. Deluxe rooms and suites are located in their own separate wing, with its own pool, and are more spacious than standard rooms, with a jacuzzi on the balcony.
This resort offers no fewer than six restaurants to choose from, as well as three bars and a coffee shop. The signature restaurant is the recently-opened Rock Salt, which provides an open-show kitchen, and the Raw, also recently opened, serves seafood and sushi. If you fancy cuisine to blend in with the Moorish surroundings, the Arabic Mezz2 restaurant serves a range of mezze and grills, as well as offering late-night drinks and shisha, to be sure of fitting in with the culture.
