On a remote coral island named Meedhupparu, only reachable by seaplane, the Adaaran Select is an oasis of peace and relaxation, almost concealed by palms and casuarinas. The island is covered with luxuriant vegetation and surrounded by a beautiful lagoon and a stunning reef filled with brilliant corals and colourful marine life, with many uninhabited islands a boat ride away. For those who don’t dive or snorkel, the evening fish feed from the jetty provides the chance to view the aquatic life, from reef sharks and butterfly fish to rays and turtles.
The main accommodation consists of spacious Beach Villas, set at the back of the beach under the shade of a canopy of trees, and all featuring private terraces and outdoor showers. However, there are also the exclusive Prestige Water Villas, which form a resort within a resort. These thatched chalets have exquisite interiors, with sun decks and private Jacuzzis, and are located along a walkway right at the edge of the reef.
There is a sublime food selection available at both the main Jaafaiy Restaurant, and the fine dining restaurant, which is part of the Prestige Water Villas complex. The spa also has its own restaurant, offering healthy Asian and Western cuisine. You can enjoy a cocktail at the Sunset Bar while watching the sun go down, and there is private dining on the beach.
The hotel has no children’s facilities, making it a tranquil place for honeymooners. You can’t get married in the Maldives, but you can renew your vows, and on the shore there is a decorated enclave, woven with palm leaves and garnished with tropical flowers. After the ceremony, there is champagne on the beach.
